Sri Lanka Crisis: Sri Lankan President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa (President Gotabaya Rajapaksa) Said on Sunday that all political parties should forget their differences and keep the public interest in mind. Significantly, the country is currently going through the worst economic phase and the government is being asked to resign immediately. In a message to the public on the occasion of International Labor Day, the Rajapaksa spoke of forgetting differences and keeping the public interest in mind.
A day earlier, Sri Lanka’s powerful Buddhist religious body warned that if Gotbaya’s elder brother and Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa did not resign to form an interim government to resolve the country’s political and economic crisis, people would reject all leaders. Gotabaya tweeted, “On the occasion of International Labor Day, I once again invite all political parties to come together. Let us forget the political differences and join hands in the fight for the public interest.
On this #InternationalWorkersDayI once again invite all political party leaders in #lka to come to a consensus on behalf of the people.
It’s my sincere wish to call on the people to join hands to steer a pro-people struggle setting aside political differences. pic.twitter.com/NRwLUkxSiA

Due to the economic crisis, the Rajapaksa is on everyone’s target
Powerful Buddhist leaders have threatened to issue an ordinance against the government led by President Gotabaya Rajapaksa. Buddhist leaders have decided to protest in Sri Lanka on Saturday for failing to clear the way for the formation of an interim government to resolve the country’s ongoing political and economic crisis. Thousands of protesters have taken to the streets since April 9 because the government does not have the money for important imports.
Prices of essential commodities are skyrocketing in Sri Lanka and there is a severe shortage of fuel, medicines and electricity. Recently, Buddhist religious leaders, civic organizations and business circles have called for the formation of an interim government, mainly in the Buddhist nation. Now Buddhist clerics have decided to push for the resignation of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa to clear the way for the formation of an interim government.
