The conference is scheduled to be held tomorrow, the 20th, which will be attended by Union Ministers and Agriculture Ministers of various states. The conference will discuss how farmers can be encouraged to grow honey and the challenges facing the sector.
In collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmer Welfare, Government of India and National Dairy Development Board, Union Minister for Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Narendrasinh Tomar presided over the meeting and Union Minister of State for Agriculture and Farmer Welfare Kailash Chaudhary and Ms. Shobha Karandlaj and Minister for Agriculture of Gujarat In the presence of Patel, a program of “Celebration of World Bee Day” will be held on Friday 20th May, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Kevadia-Ektanagar Tent City-1, Gujarat.
In addition to the inaugural and technical sessions covering all aspects related to bee keeping, an exhibition of various types of honey and other bee products, related equipment / machinery, value added products in bee keeping etc. has also been organized on this occasion. Members of Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), Central and State Government Agriculture / Horticulture University, NAFED, TRIFED, NBB, Honey FTO etc. will participate in the program.
Efforts are being made by the Central Government to increase the income of the farmers under which various schemes are being planned and encouraged for the farmers to turn to alternative farming. Beekeeping is also an alternative occupation that can be done along with farming. Farmers can earn income by raising bees without any hindrance in their farm produce. Due to the health benefits of honey, its use is now on the rise so that farmers can be attracted to bee keeping as it is easily available in the market.
