Although the names of the two infected players have not been released yet, it is certain that both the cricketers will miss India’s first match in CWG 2022. Women’s cricket has been included in the CWG for the first time, with cricket returning to the Games after 24 years. It will be played in T20 format and in Group B, India will face defending world champions Australia in the first match on July 29.

What did BCCI and IOA say?
Regarding this, an official of the Indian Olympic Association (IOA) told news agency PTI that the second player was found to be Covid-19 positive and it happened before the departure. Both the players are staying in India. There is no official word from the Indian board about this, but a BCCI source said that as per the rules, both players can join the team only if they come back negative.
Can participate in another match?
If both the players are fit then they can participate in the match against Pakistan on July 31. Apart from Australia and Pakistan, India also has to play a match against Barbados in the group stage. Apart from this, hosts England, South Africa, New Zealand and Sri Lanka are also part of these games. All matches, including the final, will be played at Birmingham’s famous Edgbaston ground.
