ZTE Corporation is a leading global supplier of telecommunications, enterprise, and consumer technology solutions for the mobile internet. Recently, this company has expressed perceptions on international industry practices and mentioned the growth potential in the international market, industry, and economy at the Mobile 360 Asia Pacific 2022 conference, which is a significant ICT integrated industry event in the Asia Pacific (APAC) area. To boost technological innovation and industrial 5G digital transformation, ZTE has released NodeEngine 2.0 white paper, accelerating the digital transformation of industries. That is an influential step in the developing history of ZTE Corporation.
ZTE has vowed to accelerate the 5G digital transformation in the Asia Pacific region
With the theme of “Building Digital Nations”, the event was organized by GSMA, focusing on how 5G can enable digital nations to boost sustainable and comprehensive growth.
According to a director of ZTE Corporation, “Digital” refers to an all-embracing ecosystem with numerous stakeholders, which is built on the technology of hyper-connectivity. Telcos, as an important role in providing connectivity to transform the ecosystem into digital organizations, can’t simply be viewed as a “main pipeline with hyper-bandwidth”. ZTE’s Digital Service Provider (DSP) model, which is built on Telco Cloud architecture and practical solutions like Network Slice as a Service (NSaaS), Private 5G Network as a Service (NaaS), AI, and so on, has provided strong support for digital transformation.
The CTO of ZTE Corporation emphasized, that the Asia-Pacific area, which includes some of the most vibrant digital economies in the world, accounts for nearly 37% of global GDP. And its emerging markets are still embracing the digital transformation brought on by 5G. ZTE has provided services to APAC for more than 20 years, and achieved outstanding marks in the region under its developed and industry-leading capabilities in technology.
Consumers anticipate improved experiences from 5G networks, while businesses look forward to lower costs, greater efficiency, and increased revenue. 5G technology has so far been extensively used across numerous industrial verticals in B2B fields. However, the main issue that most industries are dealing with is how to make enterprises’ and operators’ collaboration consistently profitable. There are two ways to work: promoting efficient business models to accelerate value creation and finding a way to mass customization.
Regarding accelerating value creation in the early phases of 5G applications, it is critical to focus on the customers’ unique wants and pain points in fragmented scenarios. On the basis of this, ZTE Corporation can explore new scenarios in various fields to speed up the development of 5G applications in the B2B fields.
Mass customization is one of the best marketing strategies for achieving increased profitability. That explains why ZTE intends to build both the foundational component-based cloud capabilities as well as digital infrastructure capabilities. Through building such capabilities, agile creation can be implemented to satisfy the needs of multiple applications in different scenarios via flexible orchestration of such capabilities. Furthermore, this enables ZTE to keep building effective experiences across various scenarios and solidify its strong and stable digital foundation, enabling quick iteration and evolution.
ZTE Corporation releases NodeEngine 2.0 white paper, accelerating digital transformation of industries
ZTE released the NodeEngine 2.0 white paper in Mar 2022, demonstrating its remarkable progress in its research into industrial ToB applications with the goal of speeding the private network deployment of international operators and global industrial partners.
NodeEngine is the first as well as the only base station-based edge computing power engine in the industry. Its solution makes computational capabilities available for the base station with one additional board attached to the BBU, attaining total integration of networks and computing power. As a result, 5G agile industrial networks will be built while meeting the private network deployment requirements of lightweight deployment, application localization, and accurate performance.
The innovative “1+N+∞” capability architecture put forward by the upgraded NodeEngine 2.0 solution:
“1” indicates one board. To create a 5G private network, only one new computing board is required, which can use to achieve terminal radio access and local traffic distribution. Meanwhile, in order to build a great pool of computing power resources and realize the elastic expansion of the computing power, multiple NodeEngines are coordinated across domains to serve applications with larger scales and higher performance.
“N” indicates the N-dimensional value-added services. NodeEngine 2.0, on the basis of NodeEngine 1.0, significantly enhances service capabilities, particularly in terms of service level agreement (SLA) intelligence and capability exposure. NodeEngine 2.0 solution offers industrial applications a precise wireless capability guarantee, as well as a wireless network with an “industrial brain.”
“∞” indicates the growth of industrial application scenarios. NodeEngine 2.0 can achieve the integration of network, cloud, and services by opening up computing power, network strategy, and service capacity.
Three features of NodeEngine2.0 stand out thanks to the industry-leading architecture “1+N+∞”: ease of service provisioning, service subscription, and networking; the intelligence of network connection guarantee; and openness of wireless network capability.
Service provisioning includes five “ones”: “One board”, “one pair of optical fibers”, “one pair of IP addresses”, “one hour”, and “one hop”. The “industrial brain” of wireless networks offers free subscribing services for business cards. The SLA guarantee capability achieves 10ms @99.999% level, and deployment efficiency is boosted by more than ten times. The opening of computing resources enables the on-demand deployment of third-party apps. The service scenario can be expanded on demand to fulfill the various application requirements of different industries thanks to service capability openness like positioning.
The need for industrial private networks is growing as 5G applications evolve. The new phase of private network construction is focused on figuring out how to offer more sophisticated services to better suit customers’ growing and distinct requirements. ZTE Corporation has completed more than 80 projects in over 10 industries worldwide since the release of its NodeEngine 1.0 solution contributing to the rapid deployment and use of 5G private networks in industrial parks, mines, hospitals, stadiums, and airports. With rich deployment expertise, ZTE introduces an innovative and growing NodeEngine 2.0 solution.
In 2021, ZTE Corporation carried out service validation of a 5G intelligent factory based on NodeEngine abroad and achieved real-time remote transport control of industrial robots, with all data processing performed on the local server, which showed the ZTE 5G network’s strong industrial solution capability.
Conclusion
ZTE Corporation, as the front runner of the 5G digital economy, is dedicated to the 5G digital transformation of the whole industry, and it will develop technological innovation through further cooperation with all parties worldwide, bringing better services for its cooperators and consumers.
