During the streamer’s Tudum fan event on Saturday, Netflix debuted the first official video of its “Bridgerton” prequel, officially titled “Queen Charlotte: A Bridgerton Story.”
The upcoming limited series spinoff will follow the early years of Queen Charlotte, played by Golda Rosheuvel in the original “Bridgerton” series. In this new chronology, the young Queen Charlotte is portrayed by India Amarteifio (“Line of Duty”). The Netflix official logline is as follows: This “Bridgerton”-verse prologue, which is centred on Queen Charlotte’s rise to fame and power, describes how the young Queen’s marriage to King George triggered a magnificent love story and a social revolution that gave rise to the Ton world that the characters in “Bridgerton” inherited.
In the two-minute film, Charlotte is seen attempting to scale a garden wall to get out of the house she lives in and pleading with her fiancé for help.
In the next prequel series, Rosheuvel, Adjoa Andoh, and Ruth Gemmell will all return in their respective roles as the elder Queen Charlotte and Lady Agatha Danbury, respectively. Princess Augusta is portrayed by Michelle Fairley of “Gangs of London,” child King George is played by Corey Mylchreest of “The Sandman,” little Agatha Danbury is portrayed by Arsema Thomas, and Sam Clemmett of “Harry Potter and the Cursed Child” is also in the cast.
