The 32-year-old model and actress discussed how having the disorders has “been very challenging” in a TikTok video that she shot in the bathroom. When Fox was asked by a fan if she could film a video about “navigating her career despite being neurodivergent,” the dialogue got started.
The Uncut Gems star admitted, “I have periods of incredible productivity where I’m on top of the world and just feeling like… I’m unstoppable.” And I occasionally have a deep, deep, deep feeling of stagnation, as if I am unable to move at all.
Attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, or ADHD, is a neurodevelopmental condition that can impair attention span, increase impulsivity, and induce hyperactivity.
According to the National Institute of Mental Health, OCD, also known as obsessive compulsive disorder, is a long-term mental health condition that results in uncontrollable, recurrent obsessions and/or actions known as compulsions (NIMH).
Fox went on to say that despite her reputation for candor, she had “never really talked about” her battles with the diseases.
“ADHD is quite challenging. I recently became aware that I have some OCD since I used to mentally count the letters in words and would always strive for a total of 10. If I’m not smoking pot, I’m literally counting the letters. Consequently, the cannabis calms the OCD.
Fox has already spoken openly about her mental health. She discussed her postpartum depression last week in relation to the birth of her baby. She recently discussed some of the measures she’s taken to protect her mental health, telling her fans that she’s proud of herself for calling it quits on her relationship with Kanye West and claiming to have “tapped out at the first sign of a red light.”
She told ES magazine, “I was just going day by day and seeing where it went.” “He still wants to hang out with me today, let’s do it, was all that was said. When reality sank in, the way of life became untenable. I was unable to occasionally fly away.”
