Deputies allege that two adolescent boys shot dozens of rounds into the home of an innocent Texas woman, killing her in a drive-by shooting, and they have taken custody of the youngsters.
Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar stated during a press conference that he thinks the suspects, ages 14 and 15, “struck the incorrect house” at around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday in a West Bexar County area. Salazar told reporters, “I don’t think they’re exhibiting any regret, whatever.
According to WOAI-TV, both teenagers are accused of first-degree murder and aggravated assault with a dangerous weapon. Novita Brazil, 25, has been named as the shooting victim, according to the source.
According to a GoFundMe for Brazil, she is “the most kind-hearted person you’ll ever meet. She had a heart of gold and was kind, generous, funny, loving, and adventurous.”
A second woman, who Salazar claimed was an Airbnb guest staying with the victim, was shot and had a non-life-threatening wound.
Brazil was “wholly blameless,” according to Salazar. She was just up working late into the night on her computer when she passed away. Salazar claims that more than 100 shot casings were found at the crime scene.
The station adds that the teenage suspects, who led law enforcement on a car chase, were found 10 miles away at the rear of a baseball field. According to the station, the 14-year-old suspect has been charged with avoiding arrest with a motor vehicle and unlawful use of a motor vehicle in addition to the murder and assault accusations, while the 15-year-old suspect has been charged with escaping arrest on foot. On Thursday, it was unclear if the two had admitted guilt. Information on lawyers was not easily accessible.
