Empyrean Heavy Machinery Spare Parts Trading LLC has been selected as a partner to supply Michelin tyres to mining companies in Uzbekistan.
The Dubai-based trading company has signed a €9 million order with a leading gold and uranium miner in Uzbekistan to supply 276 Michelin tyres. The tyres are for specialised use by ore trucks and are each nearly 3 meters tall.
The order is one of a number contracts that Empyrean has won since the company was established in November 2018. The company has won tenders worth more than $293 million since it was founded.
Akmal Mamarahimov owns Empyrean via two United Arab Emirate companies, SORP Investment LLC and IPC FZE. Empyrean’s managing director is a Pakistani businessman called Muhammad Imran Abbasi, 42, who also works for SORP Investment.
Mamarahimov, 43, was previously an owner of a machinery supply company in Moscow called Centre for Business Supply LLC. That company was dissolved in October 2018 after two years in operation.
In addition to the Michelin contract, Empyrean also won a $9.2 million contract in November 2021 to supply parts for Caterpillar equipment. This order came after Empyrean supplied its client with 10 Caterpillar 793D trucks in July 2020. That deal was valued at $3.37 million per unit, or nearly $34 million in total.
Empyrean also supplies Komatsu equipment to mining companies in Uzbekistan and won a large contract in May 2020 valued at $41.46 million. This tender was to supply 220 ton, Komatsu 830E-1AC mining trucks. A supplementary contract was awarded to Empyrean in June 2020 to supply a Komatsu WD-9003A wheeled bulldozer worth $1.93 million.
Empyrean has also been contracted to supply two WK-20 amphibious excavators in a deal worth $15.9 million.
Empyrean said: “Our company has dealer and trade relations with the largest manufacturers of industrial equipment, spare parts, raw materials and consumables.”
Empyrean supplies a wide range of equipment for the mining, oil and construction industries. It works with manufacturers including Shell, Hitachi, Caterpillar, Michelin and Komatsu. Empyrean also provides maintenance, servicing, and training for the equipment it supplies.
Empyrean said: “We are official suppliers of a wide range of special heavy equipment (excavators, loaders, etc.), trucks, ICE, locomotives and another railway transport, as well as spare parts for construction equipment, mining trucks, mine loaders and many other special machines. With us you will always find elements for the running gear, filters, travel reducers, engine parts and much more.”
The Caterpillar 793D trucks supplied by Empyrean are regarded as one of the best mining trucks in production. The 793D has a capacity of 232 tonnes and produces gross power of 1801kW. More than 240 of these trucks have been fully automated, allowing them to operate nearly continuously. More than 1.6 billion tonnes of rock has been hauled by autonomous Caterpillar trucks.
The Komatsu 830E-1AC by contrast has a 222 tonne payload but has a slightly larger engine producing 1865kW, or 2500 horsepower.
