Houthi rebels continue to target ships in the Red Sea. America and Britain are taking action against it. Meanwhile, according to information received from the UK Maritime Trade Operations and Security Firm Ambre, a drone attack took place near Yemen in the Red Sea on Tuesday. The British cargo ship suffered minor damage in the attack. Houthi rebels claimed to have carried out the attack.
UK Maritime Trade Operations said the attack took place 57 nautical miles west of Hodeida, Yemen. In which the Barbados-flagged vessel suffered minor damage. However, there is no news of any injuries in this attack. A small vessel was also close to the cargo ship before the attack. Despite this incident the ship managed to steady itself and continued its journey.
Houthi rebels claimed the attack
Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen claimed the attack. The rebels issued a statement saying they had carried out two separate attacks. A spokesman said the first attack targeted the American ship Star Nasia, while the second attack targeted the British ship Morning Tide.
The United States considers the Houthis a global terrorist organization
Last month, the United States declared the Houthis a global terrorist organization. The terrorist group has targeted ships in the Red Sea over Israel’s war against Hamas in Gaza. It is considered a terrorist organization by the US, European Union and other governments.
