Nationwide raids have been conducted by the NIA against the activities of extremists in the country. Raids have been conducted at a number of places in 7 states including Gujarat. In which raids have been conducted in Karnataka, West Bengal, Punjab, Kerala, Tamil Nadu. The NIA investigation into the case of the jailed Lashkar-e-Taiba extremists has intensified. Items including 25 mobiles, 6 laptops, 4 storage devices, cash have been seized. Currency notes of different countries have also been seized.
It may be mentioned that in October 2023, the Bengaluru police filed a case for supplying explosives and weapons to Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorists in a central jail in Bengaluru. The investigation into the crime was handed over to the NIA. The NIA recently filed a chargesheet in this regard on 12 January 2024. In which this charge sheet was filed against 8 accused including Junaid Ahmed Khan and Salman Khan. It is in this context that NIA has conducted these raids, it has been learned from NIA sources.
Investigation conducted on Karan Kumar in Ahmedabad and Hardik Kumar in Mehsana
Some suspicious items have also been seized from the people who were raided in Ahmedabad and Mehsana in Gujarat and intensive interrogation has been conducted. A search operation was conducted there in the name of Hardik Kumar in Mehsana and Karan Kumar in Ahmedabad. Meanwhile, some items have been seized. Both these persons have been interrogated.
There are also possibilities of more action in the coming days in this raid.
