After the implementation of CAA in India, many international countries and organizations have commented on it. The US has said it is closely monitoring the Citizenship Amendment Act. After this statement of America, the Indian Ministry of External Affairs has replied to him. MEA said that ‘CAA Act is an internal matter of India, it shows India’s commitment to human rights. Through CAA, people will get citizenship, no one will be deprived of citizenship.
“He who does not know history should not give a speech”
Attacking America, the Ministry of External Affairs said that the statement of America or other countries in this matter is unnecessary and not based on facts. Constitutional rights exist for people of all religions in India. Those who do not know the traditions of India and the post partition history of the region should not give a speech. India’s partners and well-wishers should welcome this initiative.
Asylum for minorities
While addressing the press conference, the MEA said that the Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 is an internal matter of our country, which expresses India’s commitment to traditions and human rights. Under this law, India will grant asylum to persecuted minorities from its neighboring countries Afghanistan, Pakistan and Bangladesh. Under the CAA, India will grant asylum to minorities from Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist, Jain, Parsi and Christian communities.
Many international countries commented
The ministry said that CAA is about granting citizenship, not about taking away citizenship. He said that not only the US, but many international countries have commented on the implementation of the CAA which is misinformed and inappropriate. The Constitution of India guarantees religious freedom to all its citizens.
The MEA said there can be no wrong in expressing concern over any kind of oppression of minorities in a neighboring country. Vote bank politics should not be weighed against helping people in distress.
