China continues to lay claim to India’s north-eastern state of Arunachal Pradesh. Recently, China announced a list of 30 new names from different parts of Arunachal Pradesh. This move by China has created a controversy. Meanwhile, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar reprimanded China for this.

When asked about a long-term plan for the sea-dependent business community, External Affairs Minister Jaishankar said, ‘This is not just a problem of Gujarat, but a problem of India or the whole world. In the night sea, two things are happening – one, some powers are attacking shipping with drones and missiles. Second- Pirates in Somalia are hijacking ships because they feel this is an opportunity for them as the world is watching drones and missiles.
Expressed concern on these two issues
Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar said that there are two concerns for us – first, our trade is through the western Arabian Sea. Second, in merchant shipping, we have a large number of citizens, we would be number 1 or 2 with the Philippines. So, if a ship is attacked, most of those crew members are our citizens and we are concerned about their safety.
