Germany has recently asked the Iranian head of the banned Islamic Center Hamburg, Mohammad Hadi Moffateh, to leave the country. Mofteh is told that he is being expelled from Germany and has only two weeks to leave the country.
Hadi Mofteh was the official deputy of Iran's Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei as head of the Islamic Center Hamburg in Germany. Just last month, Germany banned the Islamic Center Hamburg, accusing it of promoting radical Islamic ideology.
Who is Mohammad Hadi Mofteh?
Mofteh was born in 1966 in Qom, Iran. He received his primary education from Tehran, after which he obtained his diploma degree in 1984. He lost his father at the age of 12. His father was a professor and Islamic scholar at Tehran University. His father who was against any kind of extremism in religion was killed by an extremist group.
Mofteh has been a member of the faculty at Qom University since 2008 and holds the rank of Associate Professor. Mohammad Hadi Mofteh has been serving as the 10th Imam and Director of the Islamic Center Hamburg since 2018. He also founded the National Maref Radio Broadcasting Network.
Why was the Islamic Center Hamburg banned?
The demand to ban the Islamic Center Hamburg in Germany has been going on for a long time. After raiding 53 sites linked to it in July, the German government decided to ban the Islamic Center Hamburg. Along with this, 4 big mosques associated with this organization have also been sealed, including the world famous 'Blue Mosque'. According to the German Interior Ministry, the Islamic Center Hamburg was founded in 1953 by immigrants from Iran. The organization is accused of promoting the ideology of the Iranian government and trying to bring about an Islamic revolution in Germany.
Ultimatum to the Mofteh of the German Government
The German Interior Ministry has ordered Mohammad Hadi Mofteh to leave Germany within 14 days. They are also banned from re-entering or spending any time in Germany. If he does not comply with these orders, he can be jailed for up to 3 years.
