All divisions of automobile companies reported a decline in sales in August. Low sales of two-wheelers and commercial vehicles crippled auto companies, though passenger vehicles like buses and tempos kept the market under control to some extent. The sales of passenger vehicles have been stagnant or have declined marginally in the last three months. Electric two-wheeler companies in this category have also posted very low profits last month.
Sales of electric two-wheelers fell by 17 percent in August. According to Federation of Automobile Dealers data, two-wheeler sales were recorded at 88,472 in August, while the figure was 1,07,000 in July.
Biggest decline in Ola EV sales
Ola Electric has seen the biggest decline among all electric two-wheeler companies. Ola Electric's sales figures fell by 35 percent in August, while the company sold 27,517 units in July.
TVS Motors sales also fell by 10% in the month of August. The company had sold 19,486 scooters in July but its sales fell to 17,543 in August. Bajaj Auto sales have seen a marginal drop of 5% month-on-month. The company sold a total of 16,706 units.
Ather Energy's sales boom
While all the major auto companies saw a decline in sales, Aether Energy was the only auto company to celebrate its success in the month of August. The company increased its sales by 7 percent by selling 10,830 units. However, according to experts, sales of Bajaj Auto, TVS and Aether Energy may see a jump in the month of September.
