The last decade has seen a change in the preferences of Indian immigrants (NRIs). Earlier the United States of America was the most preferred destination of Indians, but now their priority is rapidly changing.
America remained the favorite country for Indians from 2010-2020. During this period the number of people of Indian origin in the USA reached 45 lakhs.
H1-B visas attracted people working in the IT and medical fields, while top American universities attracted Indian students for higher education.
However, in recent years, America's popularity has declined due to the tightening of visa regulations and long waiting periods for permanent residence (green cards).
Dubai (UAE) is fast becoming a favorite for Indians after 2020. This location is more convenient due to tax free income and proximity to India. Employment opportunities in Dubai continue to grow, especially in the manufacturing, service and technology sectors. Easy visa process and investment promotion policies are attracting Indians.
Due to employment opportunities and Dubai's progressive immigration policies, the preference of Indians is changing over the last 10 years and Dubai is becoming the preferred country over the US.
