The news of Rs 7 coin being released in Dhoni's name is just a rumour, it is totally false. A fact check by the Press Information Bureau has revealed that this viral claim is completely false. The government has not made any such announcement. PIB Fact Check on its X handle said that the image of the Rs.7 coin is fake and the Department of Economic Affairs has neither said anything about introducing such a coin nor has any such intention in future.

No coin is being released with Dhoni's name on it but there is one cricketer whose image is printed on the note. The player is former West Indies batsman Frank Worrell, who was also the first black captain of the West Indies. Frank Worrell's photo is printed on Barbados banknote. His picture is printed on the five dollar note. Worrell united all the islands of the West Indies into one team. Worrell scored 3860 runs at an average of 49.48 in 51 Tests for the West Indies. He scored 39 centuries in first class cricket.
