Justice Nasir Javed Rana delivered this important judgment in a temporary court in Adiala Jail today. While earlier the decision of punishment has been postponed three times. The court has also imposed a fine of 10 lakh rupees on Imran and 5 lakh rupees on Bushra. If he fails to pay the fine, he will be jailed for 6 months. The verdict was pronounced outside Adiala Jail amid tight security, after which Bushra was arrested from the courtroom itself.
Earlier, Islamabad's anti-corruption court had fixed January 17 as today's date for pronouncing the verdict. According to local media reports, Justice Nasir Javed Rana concluded the hearing of the case on December 18 last year, while reserving the date of December 23 for delivering the verdict. Later he fixed January 6 as the date to announce the verdict.
Many cases are going on against Imran Khan
On December 23, the day the verdict was to be announced, the anti-corruption court in Islamabad adjourned its verdict in the case to January 6 due to the winter holidays. Then on January 6, the judgment could not be delivered as Justice Rana, who was hearing the case, was on leave. In the next hearing on January 13, the judge said the reason for the delay was Imran and Bushra's non-appearance in court at Adiala Jail.
Imran is in jail since 2023. He is in jail in several legal matters, which he claims are “politically motivated” against him. Last year, he was acquitted in the Toshakhana and Iddat cases, but a new charge was framed against him in the Toshakhana 2 case.
