US President Donald Trump on Sunday arrived in Kuala Lumpur, the capital of Malaysia, on the first leg of his five-day Asian tour. This is Trump's first visit to Asia during his second term as president. His trip focused on building stronger partners for the US against China's growing influence in Asia.
Trump received a grand welcome
He has shown off his dance moves with local artists at the Kuala Lumpur airport. Arriving in Malaysia after a 23-hour flight from Washington, the 79-year-old Trump looked fresh. He was given a red carpet welcome as he disembarked from Air Force One. They couldn't help but dance to the beats of the drums and waved their hands in the air to welcome the local artists present at the airport.
The Malaysian flag was waved and applauded
The colorfully dressed performers represented Malaysia's major communities, including the Borneo indigenous people, Malays, Chinese and Indians. President Trump's reception was hosted by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who swayed to the music with his guest. Embassy officials and a large number of people waved American and Malaysian flags and clapped.
Sana will hold bilateral talks with Takaichi
Trump's five-day trip to Asia is an attempt to strengthen America's position and trade ties in the region. He will attend the ASEAN Summit in Malaysia. Afterwards, US President Donald Trump will travel to Tokyo, where he will hold bilateral talks with newly elected Japanese Prime Minister Sana Takaichi. From there, he will travel to Gyeongju, South Korea and attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit.
