Liquor has been completely banned in Mizoram since (Mizoram Liquor Prohibition Act, 2019). While some religious and traditional exemptions are limited, those found drinking or selling alcohol on a regular basis can be jailed and fined from six months to three years.
Liquor is completely prohibited in Lakshadweep since (Lakshadweep Prohibition Regulation, 1979). Only a few islands and limited tourists are allowed. Selling or drinking unauthorized liquor is punishable by imprisonment and fines. Tourist permits can also be revoked.
