
Officials have officially declared the horrific shooting incident at Bondi Beach in Sydney, Australia as a terrorist attack. At least 11 people were killed in the attack, while a total of 29 people, including two police officers, were seriously injured. The attack was revealed to have targeted the Jewish community on the first day of the Jewish festival of Hanukkah.
The Pakistani connection has come to the fore in this incident. One of the Bondi Beach shooters has been identified as 24-year-old Navid Akram, according to a senior law enforcement official. Naveed Akram lived in the Bonnyrigg area of Sydney and was originally from Lahore, Pakistan. Police raided his house on Sunday evening as part of the investigation.
According to information circulating on social media, Naveed Akram was a student at Al-Murad Institute in Sydney. In the pictures that went viral online, he is seen wearing a Pakistani cricket jersey. However, official confirmation of all this information by officials is still under investigation.
Injured persons admitted to hospital
Police said one of the two gunmen involved in the attack died on the spot, while the other has been hospitalized in critical condition. Investigations are also underway to determine whether a third party or other accomplice was involved in the attack.
Based on the viral video, claims are being made that Naveed Akram was the attacker and was initially unarmed. However, after fleeing the scene, information has surfaced that he fired more shots. According to police, several improvised explosive devices were found in a vehicle on Campbell Parade in the Bondi area, which is being investigated by the bomb disposal unit.

NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon told a press conference that the incident had been declared a terrorist attack based on weapons and explosive materials found at the scene. He appealed to the social media to refrain from speculation and said that this is not the time for revenge, but time to let the investigating agencies do their work.
