Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation has prepared an action plan for traffic management. Under this plan, strict action will be taken against those who park in violation of the rules and the negative pressure on the traffic will be removed. Further action will be taken against those units who force customers to park outside despite the availability of parking.
Strict action will also be taken against units who park their vehicles on the main road even though the parking lot is empty. Notably, vehicles standing on the main road for a long time will be impounded.
Apart from this, pressure will be removed from public roads, service roads and footpaths. Further action will also be taken against the concerned building owners and managers for illegal parking around shopping centres, malls, hospitals and other public places.
AMC has implemented a strategy based on five pillars of 'Engineering, Enforcement, Encouragement, Education and Evaluation' to bring about a permanent solution to the traffic problem. At present, AMC is conducting intensive operations in three shifts, morning, evening and night, on the issue of pressure and parking.
Special focus has been given to the main roads of the city like CG Road, Ashram Road, SG Highway, 132 ft and 150 ft Ring Road. This campaign will be further expanded in the coming days to bring a permanent solution to the traffic problem.
