The post on X reads, “Violation of US laws can lead to serious consequences regarding student visas. If you are arrested or violate any laws, your visa may be revoked. Additionally, you may be deported and may lose eligibility for a US visa in the future. So, follow the rules and do not jeopardize your career. A US visa is a convenience, not a right.”
Reduction in the number of students
Last week, the embassy warned H-1B and H-4 work visa applicants that violating US immigration laws could result in severe criminal penalties. The number of new international enrollments in the US last year on student visas dropped by 17 percent amid tightening visa rules.
Many complaints were received from Indian citizens
About 10 days ago, India raised concerns with the US over the cancellation of earlier scheduled H-1B visa interviews for Indian applicants.
External Affairs Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said in his weekly press briefing that the Indian government has received many complaints from Indian nationals who are facing difficulties in rescheduling their visa 'appointments'.
