
The matter of finding tiger nails and skin from the old house of Dharameshwar Mahadev temple near Rajpipla city has created a lot of buzz. A joint investigation by the Intelligence Bureau (IB) and the Forest Department has been launched today in this serious episode. Law enforcement agencies have swung into action as soon as the incident came to light and the whole matter is being taken seriously.
During the investigation, Maharaj Madhavananda Swamy's passport has also been found. According to the passport details, it is revealed that he went to America (USA) on 12-02-1977. Investigations are also moving towards who they were in contact with and whether these contacts had any connection with wildlife trafficking.
No network is working..
According to preliminary information, Maharaj Madhavananda Swami is originally a resident of Madhya Pradesh. Hence, the forest department has extended the scope of the investigation to Madhya Pradesh and initiated a process to get information about the source of the tiger skins and nails found. An investigation is also underway as to whether any network associated with other states is functioning or not.
This incident is believed to be the first time such a large quantity of tiger skins and nails have been found in Gujarat. A total of 37 whole tiger skins, 4 skin fragments and approximately 133 tiger nails were officially found during the investigation. This is a very serious offense under the Wildlife Protection Act.
Extensive investigation by IB and Forest Department
The trustee of the temple informed the forest department about this and immediate action was taken. Range Forest Officer Jignesh Soni and his team reached the temple and inspected the spot and seized all the materials. Currently, the entire matter is being investigated extensively by the IB and the Forest Department and more information is likely to be revealed in the coming days.
