Saudi Arabia wants to establish itself as the leader of the Islamic world. To this end, Saudi Arabia funds Muslim organizations around the world in order to maintain its influence in the global Islamic world. Saudi Arabia is also the custodian of the two holiest mosques in Islam, which is one of the main reasons for its influence among Muslims around the world. Ironically, while Riyadh aspires to be the leader of the Islamic world, the people of Saudi Arabia are mired in terrible racism. Saudis in the UAE are now openly making racist comments about Indians and South Asians.
Calling UAE people 'Indians'
Racists in Saudi Arabia have started using the word 'Indian' as a derogatory term. Currently, their target is the people of a neighboring Muslim country, the UAE, calling them 'Indians' to humiliate them. A UAE resident named Mishal Al Shamsi (@mes_alshamsi) revealed this on social media. UAE resident Mishal Al Shamsi (@mes_alshamsi) shared on Instagram how the Saudis are complicit in their disgusting racism.
“They call us Indians, thinking it will devalue us,” Shamsi wrote on Instagram. Mishal further said that he did not realize that Indians are human beings like us. They have scientists, doctors, inventors, artists and other great personalities whose names are written in golden letters in the pages of history. Mishal shared several screenshots of such racist comments.
Mishal Al Shamsi's statement was echoed by Khaled Hassan (@Khaledhzakariah), who also wrote on Instagram, “The Saudis are continuing a campaign of horrific racism. They use the word Indian and Bangladeshi against Emiratis and Egyptians as insults and slurs.”
Tension between UAE and Saudi Arabia
Khalid Hassan wrote, “Whenever the Saudis have a disagreement with any country in the region, they resort to the most racist attacks. They insult people, pretending that the Saudis are the only pure-blood nation in the region. They treat others as inferior to them.” Notably, these comments from Saudi social media accounts have intensified at a time when tensions between Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) over Yemen are high.
