In the 26th match of IPL 2024, Delhi Capitals defeated Lucknow Super Giants by 6 wickets. Batting first, Lucknow scored 167 runs in response to which Delhi achieved this target in 18.1 overs with the loss of just 4 wickets. Kuldeep Yadav contributed brilliantly with the ball in Delhi’s win. Fraser McGurk and captain Rishabh Pant played an explosive innings with the bat. This is the second win of the season for Delhi Capitals.
Kuldeep-McGurk dominated
Kuldeep Yadav bowled brilliantly in Delhi’s victory. This Chinaman bowler took 3 wickets for just 20 runs in 4 overs. Kuldeep Yadav took important wickets of KL Rahul, Marcus Stoinis and Nicholas Pooran. After this, Jack Fraser McGurk, who was playing his first match, played an innings of 55 runs in just 35 balls. Rishabh Pant also scored 41 runs in 24 balls. Prithvi Shaw made an important contribution of 32 runs.
Fighting innings from Badoni-Rahul
Lucknow Super Giants batsmen disappointed but Ayush Badoni, who came in to bat at number seven, put in a spectacular performance. This right-handed batsman scored 55 runs in 35 balls. KL Rahul played an innings of 39 runs in 22 balls. However, apart from these two, nobody could do anything special and even on a good batting wicket, Lucknow could only manage 167 runs.
Position of the points table
After this victory of Delhi, there has been a big change in the points table. The Delhi team has now moved to the ninth position with 4 points. While RCB have slipped to the bottom of the points table. This is Lucknow’s second loss in five matches but the team is still in fourth place.
