
The Kerala High Court has issued a notice to Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. The notice has been issued through an election petition filed by Navya Haridas, a candidate from Wayanad. Haridas has challenged Priyanka’s victory in the Lok Sabha by -election.
Why was the application filed?
Haridas filed a petition in the High Court demanded Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s victory to be invalid. In the petition, he accused Priyanka of not disclosing important details while nominating.
Congress general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra won for the first time by won by 6 lakh 22 thousand 338 votes in the by -elections held on November 13 for the Wayanad Lok Sabha seat. While his rival BJP leader Navya Haridas finished third with 1 lakh 9 thousand 939 votes.
Wayanad left the Lok Sabha seat
After the victory of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, by -elections were held at the Wayanad seat within a few months after the Wayanad seat was vacated. Let me tell you, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi contested two Lok Sabha seats, one of which was Kerala’s Wayanad and the other was the Raebareli Lok Sabha seat in Uttar Pradesh.
After winning both these seats, Rahul Gandhi left the ‘Wayanad Lok Sabha seat’ by keeping the family’s traditional meeting ‘Raebareli seat’.
