The defense minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Maulvi Mohammad Yaqub Mujahid, said Kabul wanted better neighborly relations and trade expansion with Islamabad. In an interview, when asked about India's alleged role, the Afghan Defense Minister said, “These allegations are completely baseless. Our policy is never to use our soil against any other country.”
Defense Minister Maulvi Yakub said that Afghanistan as an independent nation maintains relations with India and will continue to strengthen these relations in the framework of national interests. He also maintained good neighborly relations with Pakistan.
“Our aim is to expand relations, not create tension. Pakistan's allegations are baseless, impractical and unacceptable,” he said.
The defense minister said, “Afghanistan and Pakistan are neighboring countries. Tension between them is not useful to anyone. Relations should be based on mutual respect and neighborly principles.”
Meeting to be held in Turkey on the implementation of the Doha Agreement
Defense Minister Mujahid said that the next meeting between Afghanistan and Pakistan on the progress of the Doha Agreement will be held in Turkey, where the implementation and monitoring mechanisms of the agreement will be discussed. He said that all parties should comply with every provision of the agreement.
“Kabul is fully committed to all terms of the agreement. If Pakistan does not fulfill its obligations, problems will arise,” he said. Mujahid also appealed to mediator countries like Turkey and Qatar to help implement the agreement between Islamabad and Kabul.
If someone attacks Afghanistan
Mullah Yaqub Mujahid also said that if any country attacks Afghanistan, the Afghan people will “bravely defend their country.” He said that the Afghan people have a history of standing up to protect their motherland.
The defense minister further said that Pakistan calls its political opponents “terrorists”, while no clear definition of the term “terrorist” has ever been established. He clarified that the policy of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is not to support armed groups against any country, even Pakistan.
