Thousands of frontline healthcare workers were rewarded with AED 15 million (approximately ₹37 crore) during a leadership address organized by Burjeel Holdings, a leading super-specialty healthcare service provider in MENA (Middle East and North Africa), in the UAE.

Benefiting 10,000 frontline employees
The event took an emotional turn, when frontline healthcare workers started receiving SMSes confirming their inclusion in the group's newly minted 'BurjeelProud' initiative. The first phase of the initiative will benefit around 10,000 frontline employees, comprising around 85 per cent of the group's nursing, allied health, patient care, operations and support workforce.

This financial recognition (reward) is expected to be approximately half a month to one month's basic salary depending on the role and category of the employee. Addressing the employees during the town hall, Dr. Shamshir emphasized that the initiative is not attached to any conditions.
Appreciated the contribution of workers
“This is not an award for a particular department nor is it attached to any conditions. This is not because you have demanded but this is because, you are the people who are on the ground and actually doing the work,” he said. He appreciated the contribution of the frontline workers and noted that this initiative shows the commitment of giving back to the country, which has helped the growth of the group.
This was a surprise: the nurse
The announcement was followed by a prolonged round of applause throughout the arena, and many employees were visibly moved as they realized the significance of the moment. Many frontline staff members described the initiative as a highly personal honor to their daily service. A nurse said after the event, “It was a surprise. It felt like this moment was for all our frontline workers.”
This honor initiative is part of Burjeel Holdings' next phase of development, 'Burjeel 2.0', which focuses on execution, accountability and people-led growth.
2030 Vision Clear
During the address, Dr. Shamshir also briefed on the Group's long-term vision for its flagship Burjeel Medical City located in Abu Dhabi. According to this vision, it will be developed as a next generation 'Medical City Ecosystem' by the year 2030.
In line with Abu Dhabi's long-term healthcare strategy, it will go beyond the traditional hospital model to coordinate complex clinical care, research, medical education, rehabilitation and a patient-centered lifestyle environment.

Burjeel Holdings has consistently emphasized the importance of honoring frontline workers who play a vital role in providing patient care and this new initiative reflects that ongoing effort.
