By installing solar panels in your home before the onset of summer, you can run your 1.5-ton AC 24 hours for free. With the arrival of summer, household electricity consumption increases, and consequently the electricity bill also increases. If you install solar panels on your roof, it is possible to effectively reduce these additional costs.
January is coming to an end, and winter is about to wind down in the coming weeks. Summer will start after Holi, and the need for AC, cooler and fan will increase in the house. In such a situation, if you have already installed solar panels, they can easily handle the electricity load of the whole house.
A 1.5-ton AC is generally installed in homes. ACs with inverter technology consume less electricity, and can easily be run on solar panels. A 1.5-ton inverter AC consumes approximately 1.4 kW of electricity every hour. So, AC consumption will be around 35 kW in 24 hours. In this case, you need a solar panel system at home that can generate at least 35 units of electricity.
In areas with good sunlight, a 1 kW solar panel produces about 5 units of electricity per day. For 35 units of electricity, you will need a 7 kW solar panel system. Simply put, by installing 7-8 1 kW panels you can run a 1.5-ton AC all day for free. In good sunlight, a system of up to 8 panels can generate 40 units of electricity. The cost to install a solar panel system comes to around ₹7,00,000 to ₹8,00,000.
Solar panels will provide electricity during the day, but at night when there is no sunlight, a hybrid solar system is required to run the AC. Surplus electricity generated during the day will be sent to the grid. At night, the system will draw power from the main grid and run the entire home's electricity load. This way, even at night you can take advantage of the electricity generated during the day, and completely free your electricity bill.
A mini wind turbine installed at home, not a solar panel, can generate up to 9 KW of free electricity
