Dae Man Yoon, who has transitioned from a traditional Korean musician to a shaman and now a practitioner standing before the public, is gaining increasing attention. As someone who has forged his own path connecting the real world and the spiritual realm, he recently reaffirmed his presence by winning a survival program. In particular, he is being recognized as a figure who demonstrates the potential of “K-shamanism” rooted in tradition.
Dae Man Yoon rose to the top after winning the Disney+ original entertainment show Fortune War 49 following intense competition. Among shamans and fortune-tellers from across the country, he left a strong impression not only with his technical abilities but also with his interpretive insight, focus, and sincere attitude. By incorporating the traditional elements of Hanyang Gut and his philosophy of spiritual practice, he showcased a distinct identity as a “K-shaman.”

During the show, he clearly stated that his goal was “to promote the value of shamanic beliefs.” Beyond simply appearing on television, his intention to correct the distorted and fragmented perception of shamanism was evident throughout the program, drawing deep engagement and empathy from viewers.
Even after his victory, his journey continues. Recently, he performed mountain prayer rituals at Taebaeksan, emphasizing his belief that “prayer is a process of spiritual practice,” demonstrating a deeper focus on the essence of being a shaman. He is also preparing to publish a book, organizing his experiences and philosophy, thereby expanding the narrative of K-shamanism.
Previously, Dae Man Yoon gained public recognition through Pungnyu Daejang as a certified performer of Gyeonggi folk songs and a traditional vocalist. Through various stages and broadcasts, he has built his unique identity. Today, he is establishing himself as a figure who connects tradition and modernity within the emerging trend of K-shamanism. Following K-pop and K-dramas, K-shamanism is drawing attention as a new expansion of Korean traditional culture, with growing potential not only domestically but also as global content.
