With the help of this upcoming feature, users will be able to view a summary of multiple unread chats at once. That means there is no need to open each chat and read long conversations. This feature can be very useful for people who are part of many groups and it is not possible for them to read every message. A small summary will give them an overview of the entire conversation.
How will this feature work?
WhatsApp is using a special technique called Private Processing to make this feature secure. Whenever a user requests to view a chat summary, only new and unread messages will be processed. A short summary will then be prepared within a secure system.
Most notably, neither WhatsApp nor its parent company Meta will be able to access the user's messages or their summaries during this process. Due to this, this feature is considered more secure compared to other AI tools.
Users will get full control
This feature will be completely optional meaning it will not be forced on anyone. Users will decide which chats summary they want to see. Apart from this, Private Processing will also be turned off by default, which users can enable by going to the settings according to their needs. In this way, users will retain complete control over their data.
The feature is currently in testing phase
This feature is currently being tested on the beta version of Android and is not available to all users right now. The company is constantly working to improve it. After the testing is over it can be gradually rolled out to more users.
How users will benefit
As the activity on messaging apps is increasing, the message burden is also increasing. At such times this feature will help users to save time and relieve the hassle of scrolling long chats repeatedly.
