Turkey, which has been singing the tune of Pakistan, was once again seen giving a platform to anti-India sentiments on the Kashmir issue. Recently, an international conference on Kashmir was organized in Istanbul, Turkey, which was attended by Pakistani ambassadors, representatives of Kashmiri separatists and foreign academics. Anti-Indian elements spewed heavy venom from this platform. Pictures of terrorist Burhan Wani were displayed during the convention, and attempts were also made to mislead people by using old photographs.
Pakistan played an important role in organizing the event
Issues such as India’s policies on Kashmir, alleged human rights violations and the influence of Hindutva ideology were discussed at the conference. Not only that, on the issue of Kashmir, an attempt was made to present Palestine together.
However, what is shocking is that some people with a specific agenda who talk about human rights are completely silent about the atrocities committed by the Pakistan Army in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK). Pakistani army has been brutally killing protesting civilians by firing indiscriminately in PoK for a long time now. Not a single word about it came out of the mouths of people carrying the flag of so-called human rights.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has supported Pakistan many times before on the Kashmir issue. Erdogan also raised the issue of Kashmir in the United Nations.
The conference was organized by Turkish youth organization TUGVA (Turkish Janclik Vakfi) at their headquarters. In this program, Consul General of Pakistan in Istanbul, Khwaja Khurram Naeem, along with the president of the so-called ‘World Kashmir Freedom Movement’, Dr. Muzammil Ayub Thakur; Director of ‘Center for Islam and Global Affairs’ Dr. Sami Al-Arian; And Vice President of Turkish Research Foundation Dr. Enes Bayrakli was also present there.
Three separate sessions were held in the conference. The first session focused on the impact of the Kashmir dispute on regional stability, prospects for peace and justice, and the role of international cooperation. The participants included President of ‘World Kashmir Freedom Movement’ Muzammil Ayub Thakur, Head of South Asia Strategic Research Center Jamal Demir and Representative of Pakistani Consulate in Istanbul Uzair Mahmood Ghumman.
Muzammil Ayub Thakur made several misleading statements during the program and claimed that he was organizing such programs to create awareness about the Kashmir issue.
The second session discussed the regional and global influence of Hindutva ideology, examining the similarities and differences between the situations in Kashmir and Palestine. During this session Dr. Sami Al-Arian and Dr. Enes Bayrakli presented his thoughts. The third session analyzed the Kashmir dispute from the perspective of international law and human rights.
The program sought to raise the Kashmir issue on the international stage and question India’s policies.
However, none of the people present seemed bothered by the ongoing chaos and violence of the Pakistan Army in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir.
Journalist Raja Munib slammed Pakistan on this matter
Journalist Raja Munib wrote on ‘X’ (Twitter), “Trying to revive a failed narrative using decades-old images is a defeat for Pakistan and its backed elements. In fact, the unrest and atrocities Kashmiris are facing today is happening in the part of Kashmir that is under the brutal occupation of Pakistan.”
A photograph of terrorist Burhan Wani was displayed at the event held in Istanbul. Besides, photos and videos of boys and girls pelting stones at security forces were also shown. Incidents of stone pelting were actually observed in Jammu and Kashmir during the period of 2011 after Jumma Namaz every Friday.
