Finally, after two years of waiting and rumours, LARA Media Group confirms the launching of “The VOU – a fashion and beauty magazine for trendsetting, nonconformist fashionistas,” – and here’s what they mean by that!
The London-based media company operates a global network of digital publishers in over 53 countries, including LLC-A, LA Style, WTVOX, Hong Kong Style, Horoscope Today, Hairstyle Magazine, Home of Jewelleries, Wardrobe of Tomorrow, and Moda Latin America, to name a few.
In the summer of 2019, I had a chat with Eamon Aston Kunze, the company’s Media Relations Manager, who kindly divulged that from all digital publications the company fosters, none of them are catering to the LGBTQ+ community, and that’s something they’re working on.
When asked why the LGBTQ+, Mx. Kunze explained that this fast-growing community that’s not only interested in fashion and beauty but actively participates in the creation of new fashion and beauty trends, styles, and products, hence the company’s desire to give them a voice and a platform they can call home.
The magazine’s name draws from the adjective “VOU,” a neologism used by London’s pro-inclusivity circles and LGBTQ+ community to describe a contemporary but nonconformist style, sophistication, and class.
Last month, three years to the dot, I was invited to the company’s headquarters in central London to see, in exclusivity, the first edition of The VOU magazine. And oh, my oh, what a beauty it is.
And, as I’ve been permitted to publish snippets from the unpublished magazine, I’ll be more than happy to share them with you, as we go along.
The VOU’s first edition, dedicated to the LGBTQ community, will be launched as a monthly digital magazine and made available, for free, on Apple Books, Google Books, Google Play, Lulu, Amazon Kindle, and Barnes & Noble.
Without further delay, here are some snippets from “The VOU June 2021 – Pride Edition,” including articles like “What is androgynous fashion?”, “Breaking the norms with high-heels for men,” and the piece de la resistance, “Inclusive beauty,” featuring Rihanna’s lingerie brand Savage X.
A lot of high-quality content, informative, social-norms breaking, and just as described by the founders, designed to cater to those nonconformist, trendsetting fashionistas that stand out from the rest.
The magazine will also be available online at thevou.com address tackling cover subjects close to the LGBTQ community, such as gender-neutral designers, inclusive beauty, high-heels for men, androgynous fashion, and much more.
Finally, those of you wishing to express your fashion and beauty views in the LGBTQ+ context, feel free to contact The VOU’s editorial team directly, via email, and you’ll be given a voice – for free – in the magazine!
