Always interested in American ways of handling classical training in acting, I heard about The Screen Actor LA Acting Institute located in Orange County, CA. USA. They have been around for many years, and their graduates have been working on major work.
From the high paying national commercials, they have in America, to the series regular jobs on shows which, whether they are worth watching on any side of the Atlantic, or not, will always eventually become part of our viewing daily experience, here in the UK.
Here’s an acting school which instructors understand how to mix Shakespearean studies and very modern Improv.
I for one, am quite familiar with the various acting methods the good people at Screen Actor LA use. Those are what acting coaches with a good sense for character building put in motion. But the Screen Actor LA graduates are taught to go beyond figuring out how to use their own experience and recall strong emotions from various times and events from their past.
Those Thespians seem to simply become the character before your very eyes. Commercial acting for those actors, is about an untamed love of the product. Not in a cheesy way, but in a contagious, total enjoyment of the product type of intent.
Unlike a lot of U.K. journalists, I rarely travel to another continent to research talent. But this International School of the Arts, which graduates from other states and countries join, was fun investigating. I knew they were good. I realized that their graduates have a lot in common with Julliard trained actors.
The assertiveness and personal growth trainings build the hardest working actors and extremely dedicated performers. Those actors have worked as series regular actors on shows like Little Joey on Modern Family, Danny Morgan on General Hospital, Nick, and major shows on streaming platform or major television channels such as ABC Family. Etc…
The whole visit was a fun experience. I shall return to them every so often and keep all posted. You can find out more about that Screen Actor LA acting school on screenactorla.com and facebook.com/screenactorla.
