IF YOU’VE ever worked in customer service, you know how challenging it can be to keep a smile on your face.
But now one McDonald’s team member has taken to TikTok to share the most challenging conversations she’s had with customers – and some of them are hilarious.
Abbie, known online as @abbieselbby, regularly shares entertaining videos with her 54,000 followers.
In a recent reel, the 20-year-old shared some of the most annoying interactions she’s had while on shift at the popular fast-food chain – including the regular complaint about McFlurrys.
“Excuse me, my table, do you mind just cleaning it? It’s rather disgusting.”
Answering as herself, Abbie replies: “Oh I’m so sorry, I’m actually on break, but one of my colleagues is downstairs. They’ll be more than happy to clean your table for you alright, no worries.
“No no no, I don’t think you understand, I’m not going downstairs just to get someone to clean a table. You’re literally up here. Aren’t you one of those people that does clean tables?
“I am indeed, but I’m on break. I’m not getting paid for it.
“Plus, if you were a nice man I probably would have, but not getting paid so…
“Well, you are astonishingly rude. I’m going to write a bad review about you.
“Okay, thanks.”
Abbie then shows how she reacted to a customer asking to alter their burger.
“Hi, can I get a McPlant meal but instead of the gross vegan cheese, can I get just normal cheese in it, please?
“Oh yeah I’m so sorry, but we actually can’t do that because it’s not vegan.
“Oh but the store down the road does it.
“Okay, do you want to go there then?”
In the third, she reenacts dealing with a customer who is complaining about a McFlurry.
“This McFlurry is half full.
“I mean it’s not, that’s literally the portion we sell. So there you go, you can have that back.
“No, I’m not taking that back. You can fill that up for me.
“Oh, will I? Will I, with a full drive-thru screen? Will I now? No, I don’t think so. Plus we’re not allowed to fill up McFlurry’s at the window I’m afraid, so you can have that back. Enjoy.
“Can I speak to a manager then? This is actually disgusting.
“You want to speak to a manager about a bit of ice cream? No, they’ll all in a meeting I’m afraid so go home.”
Fans loved the employee’s honesty, with the video gaining more than 177,000 likes and one million views.
In the comments, Abbie’s followers shared their similar experiences, with one writing: “I’m a manager and this just seems like a normal shift.”
Another said: “Working at McDonald’s gave me violent thoughts about customers daily.”
Although not all were on Abbie’s side, as some sided with those complaining about the McFlurry’s portions.
One wrote: “I’m on the customer’s side with the McFlurrys, McD’s got stingy with the ice cream.”
