ANOTHER DESIGN has won the ‘Best Interior and Architecture Studio Award – London’ in the LUXlife 2021 Global Excellence Programme. ANOTHER DESIGN was nominated for two awards (Architectural Design of the Year and Rising Star Award). In a global economic downturn, the design firm’s ability to rise to the occasion and produce several good works has attracted a lot of attention from the industry.

Q: Can you tell us about yourself and your design philosophy?
A: I studied interior design at the University of the Creative Arts (UK) and returned to Hong Kong after receiving my BA (Hons) to work in retail store and commercial interior design, such as shopping mall design and residential development.
As an interior designer, I value the importance of imagery, composition, sound and light, and sensory effects, and I strive to reflect these elements in my work to create tactile pieces that meet the diverse needs and high-end tastes of my clients.
Q: Can you tell us about your company ANOTHER DESIGN?
A: ANOTHER DESIGN was founded by me in 2002 and I am the design director of the company. As I have lived in Hong Kong and London for a long time, I am sensitive to the needs of the Asian and Western markets, and can quickly combine the needs of both China and the West to meet the needs of my clients, and have worked with CK Hutchison, Maxims, Jaguar, Gaw Capital, MTR, Wai Yuen Tong, LuLu Cheung, McDonald’s, Evisu, Sime Darby and the United Nations…etc.
At this stage, our company has a number of cases all over the world and is also exploring the mainland China market, so hopefully one day you will see our iconic designs in Chinese cities.
Q: Can you give a verdict on the interior design trends for 2023?
A: For the question of global interior design trends in 2023, I think good space design should give people a sense of warmth . Because any space is a place for people to meet and connect with each other. A home needs to have a comfortable design, but it also needs to have the right art and technology in it! Because people are spending more and more time at home, we need to raise the level of interior design, visual, auditory and tactile senses to a higher level. Of course, technology is improving life, bringing a lot of convenience and generally higher levels of design. Artwork, music and gardening are how to enhance the taste of life and satisfy the soul.
We are always on the cutting edge, with our London studio bringing the latest direction and effective design solutions to the industry each year. In addition to personalised residential interiors, we are now working with property developers in Germany and Spain to create valuable interior architecture projects, and with Italy to design another level of retail concept development, creating innovative layouts to surprise consumers!
