After a report aired by TV9 Gujarati recently about inedible gram in Rajkot, the food department of the Rajkot Municipal Corporation has swung into action and taken a major decision to tackle the adulterants. Now, if such miscreants are caught, it has been decided to take direct action against them. Now if any inedible item is caught it will be sealed to that unit immediately. Sealing of unit will be done before FSL report.
Importantly, the RMC recently took action against a unit producing inedible pressed gram and Asha Foods and J.K. A unit called Foods was sealed. However, action was taken after 6 months based on the report of sample taken of stray dishes. Many questions were raised regarding that. Now this decision of the RMC has spread among the confused people.
5200 kg of inedible gram was disposed of by the Food Branch
According to Municipal Health Officer Jayesh Vakani, 5200 kg of pressed gram from Asha Foods firm was found inedible by the food branch of Rajkot Municipal Corporation last week. It was found that the company was manufacturing without any kind of license. All these quantities were disposed of and samples were collected. During checking, it came to light that Dajiu oil, Shankhjiru powder was mixed in it. A quantity of bloated gram was also found.

JK Sales and Asha Foods firm sealed till further orders
Subsequently, according to the order of the Deputy Commissioner, the firms namely JK Sales and Asha Foods have been sealed under Section 376-A of GPMC 1949 till further order.
