If only the appalling case of Abdul Ezedi was the straw that broke the camel’s back

Wrecking crew

IF only the appalling case of Abdul Ezedi was the straw that broke the camel’s back.

If only it woke up all those who weaken our asylum system to the damage their hand-wringing and sabotage has done to Britain.

If only the appalling case of Abdul Ezedi was the straw that broke the camel’s back
Twice the Home Office turned Abdul Ezedi down for asylum. But our Tory Government was powerless to deport him
AP

No one can present a credible excuse for Ezedi still being here.

There isn’t one.

Yet the continued presence of this violent sex offender in breach of Home Office rules is not an oversight — it appears to be a deliberate decision.

Twice the Home Office turned him down for asylum.

But our Tory Government, hamstrung by human rights laws it lacks the votes or the nerve to ditch, was powerless to deport him.

And once the Afghan Muslim had convinced a gullible vicar he was now a Christian — a known ruse — he was in, despite officially being disqualified.

The Left bleats that Ezedi’s asylum status is irrelevant to his horrific attack.

Must we spell it out?

He should never have set foot in Britain.

He was then rejected repeatedly.

He should not have been here to commit sex crimes, nor to disfigure a woman and two young girls and injure others.

This is not hard to grasp unless you refuse to do so.

Whitehall wokery

Our problems begin with a Home Office staffed by sanctimonious activist civil servants who proudly thwart all Tory immigration curbs.

If only the appalling case of Abdul Ezedi was the straw that broke the camel’s back
A migrant returns deal between Rishi Sunak and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has collapsed after Home Office officials declared the Nato member state unsafe

Yesterday they even judged Turkey — a Nato ally, holiday hotspot and EU membership candidate — “unsafe” to return migrants.

But there is a wider issue than Whitehall wokery: A whole class of affluent liberal-Left lawyers, judges, charities, lobbyists and politicians who lead gilded lives untouched by the impact of rampant immigration they help foist on ordinary people.

A class who love feeling “inclusive”, albeit at others’ expense.

On BBC’s Newsnight on Thursday, Tory and Labour MPs agreed that the illegal arrival of a misogynist thug from a repressive Islamist country should not be linked to the Clapham horror.

They pretended “micro-aggressions” against women were somehow the catalyst.

Cynical distraction, or rank stupidity? Hard to know.

It would be some comfort if this case finally convinced politicians to act.

But after 14 years in power the Tories have been defeated by, or succumbed to, this self-serving metropolitan liberal idiocy.

And Labour — that corrosive ideology’s source and ultimate manifestation — is now the runaway favourite to win power.

Forget change. It’s not coming.

Power cut

HOW can Labour seriously pretend its flagship £28billion-a-year eco policy lives on after pulling the plug on the funding?

Rachel Reeves dismissed the advice of one of her own advisers who called on her to maintain the £28 billion green pledge[/caption]

Is it now free?

Will we get “clean power by 2030” by conjuring from thin air all the nuclear power stations we’ll need?

Of course not.

It’s a fantasy.

Like Ed Miliband successfully running anything.

Labour had ONE big policy — and axed it.
