Ashwin's big statement on retirement plan

He said he would consider retirement when he no longer wanted to improve his game. R Ashwin said, 'There is nothing like that in my mind. I take it one day at a time. Because when you grow up, you have to work hard every day. It's not like before. I have worked hard in the last 3-4 years. I haven't decided to retire yet, but the day I feel like I don't want to improve I will.
R Ashwin will turn 38 on September 17. When asked about playing cricket till the age of 40, he said, 'I know how my life changed after that tough time (2018-20). I am just maintaining my enjoyment of cricket and the moment I feel I am losing it, I will walk away from it. We all play and we all have to go. Someone else will come and do better. This is Indian cricket.
A chance to overtake Anil Kumble
Ravichandran Ashwin has played 100 Test matches for Team India so far. Ashwin has taken 516 wickets in these matches. He is India's second highest wicket-taker. Only Anil Kumble is ahead of him who has taken 619 wickets. Talking about breaking Anil Kumble's record, Ashwin said, 'I have not set any target for myself. Anil bhai wants me to break his record, but I am happy. I don't want to lose my love for the game by setting goals.
