The recent T20 series against Bangladesh was very special for Team India's star wicketkeeper batsman Sanju Samson. He scored the first century of his T20 career during this series. Now he will be seen playing for the Kerala team in the second round of the Ranji Trophy. The match will begin on October 18, in which his team will face Karnataka. Meanwhile, he has made a big statement on making a place in the Indian Test team.
Sanju's eyes on the Test team
Sanju Samson has played for Team India only in ODI and T20 formats so far. But now he has his sights set on making his place in the Test team. Sanju Samson says his aim is to become an all-format player for India. Along with this, he has also revealed the conversation with Team India's leadership group.
Sanju Samson made a big revelation
Speaking to the media in Thiruvananthapuram, Sanju Samson said, 'I think I have the skills to succeed in red ball cricket and I don't want to limit myself to white ball cricket only. My desire is to play test cricket for India. Before the Duleep Trophy, the leadership group told me that they were considering me for red-ball cricket and asked me to take it seriously and play as many Ranji Trophy matches as possible.
Scored a century in the Duleep Trophy
Sanju Samson continued, 'This time my preparation was good. After the series against Sri Lanka, I trained with Rahul Dravid sir and Zubin Bharucha at the RR Academy and worked on my game. The century in the Duleep Trophy gave me a lot of confidence as it came against some of the best bowlers in the country.
The last Ranji season was a flop
Sanju Samson was a flop in the last season of Ranji Trophy. He could score only 177 runs in 4 matches at an average of 35.40. In such a situation, Sanju Samson will want to improve his game in red ball cricket this time. However, he made his mark in the Duleep Trophy during the Test series against Bangladesh. He played an innings of 106 runs off 101 balls for India D under the captaincy of Shreyas Iyer. Sanju Samson faced just 94 balls to score a century. He scored a first class century almost 5 years later.
