Team India selectors have announced the 18-member squad for the Border-Gavaskar Test series, which includes Abhimanyu Iswaran, Harshit Rana and Nitish Reddy. The first match of the series will be played in Perth on November 22. Kuldeep Yadav is not part of the squad as he has been sent to BCCI's Center of Excellence for his chronic left groin problem.
Bengal batsman Abhimanyu Iswaran has been rewarded for his outstanding performances in domestic cricket and will tour with the team as the third opener along with Rohit Sharma and Yashaswi Jaiswal. Mohammad Shami, who is recovering from injury, has not been given a place in the squad. However, the fast bowling attack remains strong with Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Siraj.
Akash Deep has been retained in the squad after domestic performances against England and Bangladesh, while the popular Krishna has returned to the squad after making his debut against South Africa earlier this year. Prasid recently performed brilliantly in the Duleep Trophy.
Fast bowler Harshit Rana has also been included in the Test team after his brilliant performance in the IPL this year. Besides, Andhra Pradesh's medium-pace all-rounder Nitish Reddy, who recently made his T20 debut in the Bangladesh series, is also part of the squad. Washington Sundar, who made his Test debut on the last tour of Australia, has managed to retain his place in the team this time as well.
