Now the race to become a billionaire has started in the world. Earlier, being a billionaire was considered a matter of great prestige, but now even this measure of wealth is becoming outdated.
According to Oxfam's annual report, the world could have its first trillionaire in the next five years. The report claims that the wealth of at least 5 billionaires will cross the $1 trillion (Rs 1 lakh crore) mark in the next decade.
Tesla and SpaceX owner Elon Musk, currently the world's richest man and a friend of US President Donald Trump, could become a billionaire in less than five years, an Oxfam report said.
According to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Musk's current net worth is $449 billion. His wealth has increased by $203 billion in 2024, making his chances of becoming a trillionaire even stronger.
Besides Elon Musk, Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Oracle founder Larry Ellison and France's richest man Bernard Arnault are also in the race.
The names of two leading businessmen of India are also included in the list of 20 richest people in the world. Mukesh Ambani is ranked 17th with a net worth of $94.6 billion, while Gautam Adani is ranked 19th with a net worth of $76.0 billion. However, both these giants are still far behind in the race to become trillionaires.
