The Government of India is constantly trying to promote sports in the country. For this, the Khelo India scheme is run by the central government. Under this basic level is done to increase sports infrastructure, increase youth interest in sports and create sports culture in the country. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on behalf of the Government of India presented the budget in Parliament on Saturday, February 1. In the meantime he announced an increase in 'Khelo India' budget. The finance minister has allocated Rs.1000 crore for the scheme, with an increase of Rs.100 crore over the previous time. Let me tell you that Rs 900 crore was allocated for the scheme in the past.
Continuous investment in Khelo India Budget
In the past, Khelo India's budget was increased. The finance minister has a budget of Rs. 880 crore to Rs. 900 crores. In the financial year 2022-23, Rs 596.39 crore was allocated for Khelo India. In the next budget, the government spent Rs. An increase of Rs 400 crore is Rs. 1000 crores. However, it later changed it to Rs. 880 crore was made. Let me tell you that Khelo India started in 2018. Since then, the Government of India has greatly invested in the scheme, so that the sporting talent from different parts of the country can be brought forward.
What was in last year's sports budget?
The Paris Olympics took place in July-August last year. The entire budget was presented by the Government of India. Subsequently, the budget of the Sports Ministry was increased by Rs 45.36 crore and a total of Rs 3442.32 crore was allocated for sports, while the first Rs 3396.96 crore was announced for the sports budget. However, this time the budget has been announced only for Khelo India. So far, no allocation has been announced for the National Sports Fund and SAI.
