Former India wicketkeeper Farooq Engineer will be honored in Manchester. His former county team Lancashire will be kept a stand at his name at Old Trafford. Apart from Farooq Engineer, West Indies giant Clive Lloyd will also receive the honor. Sources told the PTI that the stand-naming ceremony could be held on the first day of the Test match starting on July 23. “This is a good honor for both the club giants,” the source said.

175 matches for engineer Lancashire
Farooq engineer played for Lancashire for almost a decade. The engineer scored 5942 runs for Lancashire in 175 matches from 1968 to 1976. He made 429 catches and 35 stumping as a wicketkeeper. When the Farooq engineer debuted for Lancashire, the club had no big title for more than 15 years, but he helped to win the Gillette Cup four times from 1970 to 1975. On the other hand, former West Indies captain Lloyd stayed with the club for two decades and made a special contribution to the club.

Farooq engineer is counted among India’s most successful wicketkeeper. He debuted for Team India in 1961 and played until 1975. Farooq engineer played a total of 46 Tests and 5 ODIs for India. In the Test, he scored 2611 runs at an average of 31.08 and has 114 runs in ODIs. He took a total of 69 catches and made 17 stumps during his career.
