The West Indies team is currently on a tour of Bangladesh. A three-match ODI series is being played between the two teams. In the second match of this series, both the teams faced each other at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium. However, in this match, the Caribbean team took a decision that surprised everyone.
What did the West Indies do?
Bangladesh won the toss and decided to bat first. Meanwhile, West Indies paid more attention to their spin bowling considering the pitch condition. In the 50 over match, the Caribbean team bowled every over from the first over to the 50th over with spinners. He used a total of 5 bowlers and all of them were spinners. In short, West Indies did 50 out of 50 overs with spinners.
Windies became the first team in the world
West Indies also became the first team in the world to bowl 50 overs (with spinners) in an ODI match. This feat was never seen before in the history of ODI cricket. Sri Lanka previously held the record for most overs bowled by a spinner in an ODI.
First, Sri Lanka bowled 44 overs. Let us tell you that Sri Lanka has done this feat in 1996 against West Indies, in 1998 against New Zealand and in 2004 against Australia. The West Indies spinners proved the captain's decision right and restricted Bangladesh to 213 for 7 in 50 overs.
All the bowlers bowled brilliantly
Aqeel Hussain, Roston Chase, Khari Pierre, Gudakesh Moti and Alik Athanaz bowled brilliantly. Gudakesh Moti took the most three wickets. In addition, Aqeel Hussain and Alik Athanaz lost two wickets each. Roston Chase and Khari Pierre did not take wickets but both the bowlers had a good economy.
