President Draupadi Murmoo honored 20 children on Veer Bal Diwas. The President awarded these children selected from 18 States and Union Territories with the Pradhan Mantri Bal Award. In which 14-year-old cricketer Vaibhav Suryavanshi from Bihar is also included.
The award honors the martyrdom of the son of Gobind Singh, the tenth Guru of Sikhism. His sons Ajit Singh, Juzar Singh, Jorawar Singh and Fateh Singh, also known as Sahibzada. To honor the martyrdom of Sahibzadas, PM Modi announced that Veer Bal Diwas will be celebrated every December 26 from 2022 onwards.
The Union Government launched the Pradhan Mantri National Child Award in the year 1996 to honor children who have achieved exceptional success in various fields through the Ministry of Women and Child Development. Children who receive this award are also included in the Republic Day parade. The year 2022 is dedicated to the martyrdom of Guru Gobind Singh's Sahibzada and the date is fixed on 26th December.
Children who receive the Pradhan Mantri National Child Award are given a medal and a certificate. Along with this, a prize money of one lakh rupees is also given.
This honor goes to children. Whose age is minimum 5 years and maximum 18 years. Should be citizens of India. Also living in the country. Those children were included in the year 2018. Who made a name for himself in the field of bravery.
This honor is given in 7 categories. It included art-culture, bravery, innovation, education, social service and sports. But then science and technology were also combined.
At the award ceremony, President Draupadi Murmu told the honorees, "All the children have made their family, society and country proud. I heartily congratulate the families of the children who have received this honour. I also appreciate Minister for Women and Child Development Annapurna Devi and her entire team for organizing this award ceremony for children.
Applications for the Pradhan Mantri National Children's Award usually start from April every year and last till July. For which application is done only through online portal https://awards.gov.in. Any citizen, school, institution or organization can nominate their suitable candidate for Pradhan Mantri National Child Award. Children can also apply by nominating themselves.
Applicants have to fill their personal details and award category. They will also have to upload a recent photograph and supporting documents. They must also submit a 500-word description of their achievement and its impact.
