After Bangladesh's exit from the T20 World Cup 2026, the Pakistan cricket team has announced its squad. Pakistan announced the team after a warning from the ICC. Earlier, Pakistan Cricket Board Chief Mohsin Naqvi said in a press conference that he will decide on the orders of the Prime Minister whether the team will participate in the tournament or not.
The squad was announced after the deadline
The ICC objected to Mohsin Naqvi's statement, after which the PCB announced the Pakistan squad for the T20 World Cup. Let it be known that Pakistan has announced its squad after the deadline announced by the ICC.
Earlier, looking at the case of Bangladesh, there was a fear that Pakistan may also boycott the T20 World Cup but they did not have any solid basis to do so. This is the reason why Pakistan has to announce their squad after ICC warning.
All Pakistan Matches in Sri Lanka
The Pakistan Cricket Board had already submitted its demand to the ICC before the schedule of T20 World Cup, that they will not play their matches in host India. Along with India, Sri Lanka is also the joint host of this tournament. In such a situation, the ICC has held all Pakistan's matches in Sri Lanka.
Under this arrangement, Pakistan will not play a single match in India. However, had they been kicked out of the tournament due to Bangladesh, they would have faced a loss of around ₹366 crore and also a ban from the ICC. This is the reason why Pakistan has been forced to play in the T20 World Cup after threats.
Risk to player safety
On the other hand, the case of Bangladesh is completely different. Bangladesh were to play all their league matches in Group-C at two venues in India but the government there said there was a risk to the safety of the players.
Who will replace Bangladesh in Group-C?
The ICC has fully assured the Bangladesh government and the board that there is no threat to the safety of the players. Meetings were held regarding this but there was no result, due to which Bangladesh have been excluded from the tournament.
Scotland have now been placed in Group-C in place of Bangladesh. In this, Scotland has now been included in Group-C instead of Bangladesh.
The Pakistan Cricket Team is managed by the PCB. This team has been representing their country in world cricket since 1952. Click here
