Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah recently introduced the 'Bharat Taxi' cooperative model. The main objective of this model is to turn drivers into entrepreneurs by reducing labor only. Under this scheme, drivers and women drivers (Sarathi Didi) will be able to share in the profits of the company.
Ownership for just ₹500
Amit Shah said that 'Bharat Taxi' has been created by bringing together five major cooperative organizations of the country. Any driver who wants to join this platform can become the owner of the company by buying a share of just ₹500. Not only this, seats in the company's board of directors will also be reserved for drivers, so that they themselves can protect their interests.
Mathematics of Profit Sharing
Bharat Taxi has prepared a special formula for revenue sharing:
- First 3 years: This period is reserved for expansion of the company.
- After 3 years: Whatever profit is made, 80% will go directly into the account of the drivers (drivers), while 20% will be kept for running the company.
- This money will be distributed based on how many kilometers the driver has traveled.
'Sarathi Didi' and security
The scheme introduces 'Sarathi Didi' concept for women drivers. The app will have a feature that if a woman is traveling alone, she can book a 'Sarathi Didi' taxi on a priority basis. This will make women drivers self-reliant and also increase the safety of passengers.
Features of Bharat Taxi
- No commission: This is India's first driver-owned platform, where there are no middlemen or commissions.
- Transparent fare: The fare will be decided by the local transport authority. There will be no hidden charges or surge pricing.
- Government Accreditation: The platform is completely based on digital infrastructure, which is approved by the government.
Bharat Taxi services are targeted to reach every municipal corporation in India within the next 3 years.
