Rising Thai girl group Eris has taken a significant step toward the global music market after receiving a rookie award in South Korea.
On May 23, Eris attended the 6th Korea Hallyu Entertainment Awards, held at the Grand Conference Hall of the National Assembly Members’ Office Building in Seoul, where the group won the Rookie Award in the Idol Group category. Hosted by the Korea Best Brand Association, the annual awards ceremony recognizes individuals and organizations that have contributed to the development of popular culture and cultural exchange across Asia throughout the year.
Composed entirely of Thai members — Tra, Lina, Pui, Rita, and Idea — Eris is a global project group developed under Korea’s entertainment planning and training system. Unlike conventional performance-focused idol groups, Eris distinguishes itself by incorporating a band-style format in which members directly perform musical instruments alongside their stage performances.
The group name “Eris” was inspired by Iris (Ἴρις), the goddess of the rainbow in Greek mythology who connects heaven and earth. The name reflects the group’s vision of becoming a bridge that connects people around the world through music.
With their official debut scheduled for the second half of this year, Eris plans to use this rookie award as a launching point to expand its presence across Asia and the broader global market.
