Kuwait is preparing to host the 2027 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division IV, Group A, marking another international milestone that reflects the country’s growing presence in winter sports and its participation in competitions sanctioned by the International Ice Hockey Federation.
The Kuwait Winter Games Club is currently preparing for the championship through a range of organizational and technical arrangements related to hosting the competition, while continuing to develop and prepare Kuwaiti players for upcoming international events.
The 2027 championship follows a series of notable results for the Kuwaiti national team. Kuwait finished second in the 2024 IIHF World Championship Division IV before securing the bronze medal at the 2025 edition held in Armenia, results that highlight the continued development of the sport and Kuwait’s presence on the international podium.
The Kuwait Winter Games Club is chaired by Fahid Al-Ajmi and continues its efforts to develop national teams and players while supporting Kuwait’s participation in regional and international competitions.
The club’s activities extend beyond ice hockey to several other winter sports, including figure skating, curling and speed skating, as part of wider efforts to expand the winter sports base in Kuwait and strengthen the country’s participation in international competitions.
The 2027 World Championship is expected to represent an important milestone for winter sports in Kuwait, both organisationally and competitively, while helping increase local interest in ice hockey and giving Kuwaiti players greater international exposure.
